Of letters...

Everyday, the doorbell would ring in the evening. The postman used to arrive in his usual khaki uniform and deliver letters. So many letters everyday. Most of them were addressed to my dad and some to my granddad. I was eight years then. I always wanted to receive letters in my name. But eight year olds don't receive letters, do they???

Its nice to receive letters. Looks as if you are some very important person in the house, at least it makes you look that way. Every time i received a letter, i always wished it was addressed to me. Silly, yet it was one of my habits. Important or not, it was always special for me to open an envelope and read.

It is recently that i too started receiving a lot of letters for some reason or the other; score sheets, passport, junk letters etc. And i still love opening the covers and perusing through it. As the world switches to e- versions of everything, Letter writing is slowly fading into the dark. I still feel it is one of the best ways to express any emotion. Handwriting has its own power when it comes to reading. If you are a very close friend of mine, don't feel surprised if a letter lands in your house in future. I just love it.

emailing, chatting have become aliases for letters. Emotions are better expressed by hand. by paintings, writings, sculptures etc.. Emails can just transfer info, letters transfer emotions, feelings, love :)

hey.. I like your blog.. btw, It's a nice habit. I had it long back when I was kid and all those letters still stay in my mind. It stays because I have written only a few, soon after I realized I can write.

Yes, letters are spl!I used to write so many in my school. Emails simply do not reflect even half the emotions.
@hariharan, its the handwriting that adds the beauty to it, I don't know how yours is, mine sure is bad.But still its nice to write :)
